Shin Hae-chul was a South Korean singer, songwriter, and record producer who was active in the South Korean music industry from the 1990s until his death in 2014. He was widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative musicians in South Korean popular music.

Shin Hae-chul was born on June 29, 1968, in Andong, South Korea. He first gained recognition as the lead singer of the rock band N.EX.T, which was active from 1991 to 2000. With N.EX.T, he helped to establish the foundations of South Korean rock music and was known for his powerful and distinctive singing style. He also wrote many of the band's songs, which often dealt with social and political issues.

In addition to his work with N.EX.T, Shin Hae-chul also released several solo albums throughout his career, including "Magdalena" (1999) and "Shin Hae-chul's Last Words" (2014). He was known for his eclectic musical style, which blended elements of rock, pop, electronic, and traditional Korean music.

Shin Hae-chul was also known for his outspoken and controversial views on political and social issues. He was a vocal critic of South Korea's political and social establishment, and was often involved in activism and charity work.

Shin Hae-chul died on October 27, 2014, at the age of 46, following complications from a surgical procedure.
