■ About Yoon Soo-il

Yoon Soo-il was born on February 6, 1955, the only son of a lone son, Captain Carl Braul Agust, a former U.S. Air Force flight pilot in Korea, and his mother, Ji Bok-hee. Before Yoon Soo-il was still born, his biological father returned home promising to take Yoon Soo-il's pregnant mother to the United States. Soon after, however, he died in an accident during a test flight.

Yoon Soo-il's mother did not give up Yoon Soo-il despite the recommendation of sending Yoon Soo-il to adopt him abroad, and later remarried to Yoon Sung-hwan from rural Ulsan and named his son after Yoon's last name. Fortunately, Yoon Soo-il's stepfather cared for Yoon Soo-il like a biological child, and Yoon Soo-il said of his stepfather, "A person who briefly dated his mother and left is meaningless as a father. "The father who raised me like my own son is really my father," he thanked. Yoon Soo-il had an exotic appearance by strongly inheriting the face of his white father, and since mixed-race children were rare in rural areas at the time, Yoon Soo-il had to grow up with great unwanted attention from the whole neighborhood. When I was young, I showed a talent for studying, so I went to Ulsan University through Ulsan Hakseong High School.

He decided that it was difficult to join the military or become a public official because of his exclusive social appearance, and decided to join the baseball team when he was in Hakseong High School, but only a year later, the baseball team disbanded. Then, a music teacher recommends him to find out his talent and to become a singer, and Yoon Soo-il starts performing in the region with a band called "Angels" in his second year.

At that time, it was the heyday of the group sound, and Yoon Soo-il also joined a mixed-race band called "Golden Grapes" of the Shin Jung-hyun Division in 1976. Golden Grapes was a psychedelic rock band led by brothers Ham Jung-ah (guitar, vocal) and Ham Jung-ah, but as Ham Joong-ah left, Yoon Soo-il joined the group.
Then, he was selected at the group sound contest held at Jangchung Gymnasium in 1977, and was noticed by An Chi-haeng, the president and composer of Anta Productions at the time, and began producing the album. However, in the process, instead of the original band name, he used the name "Yoon Soo-il and Cotton Candy," which put Yoon Soo-il, who was the most star-studded, at the forefront. Eight of the nine songs in the previous album were songs by the band's leader, keyboardist Ham Jung-pil, and the other song was "I won't just love the trot song composed by An Chi-haeng," which is a huge hit. Overall, the psychedelic atmosphere of the Golden Grapes era has disappeared and it feels like a pop album with Yoon Soo-il's vocals at the forefront. For this reason, the band breaks up between Yoon Soo-il, who wanted to sing a popular and anyone can sing even if it has a bit of a trot vibe, and the rest of the members who wanted to protect the authentic rock sound.

Since then, under the production of An Chi-haeng, he has officially released five more trot-like pop albums for three years from 1978 to 1980, becoming a popular singer. He often appears on TV entertainment shows such as public comedy as well as pop programs, and has an unrivaled position with his attractive voice and handsome face.

Then in 1981, Yoon Soo-il led the Yoon Soo-il band with his name and released the first album of the Yoon Soo-il band, which smells like rock.

From this point on, the peak of his music career begins, and all of the other songs, except for the two adaptations, were composed by Yoon Soo-il.

Most of them are composed by Yoon Soo-il, but they include "Don't Leave," "Second Home," and "Rainy" numbers, which show great guitar riffs with band-oriented music, not solo backbands. My second hometown is also reminiscent of "Pleasant Valley Sunday" by the "TV" rock band Monkeys, which became popular in the United States in 1967.

This album is still considered the best album by Yoon Soo-il.

The following year, the second album containing apartments was released in 1982, and the song became a nationwide hit, becoming one of the most popular singers of all time. At that time, apartments were just starting to be built in Jamsil. This song was also written and composed by Yoon Soo-il himself and is said to contain the story of a friend. When a friend who went to the army returned, his girlfriend's family immigrated to a foreign country without contacting him, and he had to return after ringing the doorbell of the apartment.
It was very popular in the 1980s for its exotic and beautiful appearance and left numerous hit songs and masterpieces such as Don't Leave, Second Home, Wanderer, Apartment, Enchanted Confession, Beautiful, Fantasy Island, etc. It is a sound faithful to the "Rock+Ppong" genre that Yoon Soo-il mentioned in the beginning, and it introduced a Korean rock sound that added trot to rock, but was never low or tacky, and "Beautiful" was mentioned as a representative example of Korean city pop (in fact, it was not influenced by Japan). Since the mid-80s, the company has introduced a sound that is more like a K-pop song, with everything from ecstatic confession to dance (rather than stage action).
Since then, he has returned to his full-fledged activities and is actively continuing his activities as his single "Terminal" became a hit in 2008.
Tammy Kim, the top session guitarist who went through Kim Jong-seo and Park Sang-min bands with a sound closer to rock than his debut, participated in the live for a long time.
