■ About Yoo Young-suk

He debuted in 1987 with a piano session for the rock band 'Emergency Escape'. Later in the same year, he made his debut as a composer by composing "Now I Know" from singer Choi Kyung-ran's first album. The song will be rewritten as "I Can't Love You" sung by Kim Kyung-ah in 1988.

Its heyday is from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. As a member of Dong-A, he worked as a group called Blue Sky and secured many fixed fans around lyrical and calm ballads based on his keyboard skills. In fact, like Cho Kwan-woo, record sales decreased after his face was revealed.

He is called a pioneer of Korean ballad music along with Lee Young-hoon, Lee Moon-se, and Yoo Jae-ha, showing his sophisticated pop ballad singing and writing skills that broke away from trot.

Until the 1980s and 1990s, it was possible to record million sellers by word of mouth, often joking that it would have been better if they had revealed their faces later. It may have been a joke to some extent, but Yoo Hee-yeol's radio heaven mentioned that he tried not to reveal his face, but the ranking on the K-pop program was high, and that he was not trying to appear on the show. However, I had unfounded confidence in my appearance, so much so that Yoo Young-seok's Cyworld mini homepage's greeting was "the days I endured with appearance" (...).

Some of the most popular hit songs during the blue sky are "Winter Sea," "On a Teary Day," "Congratulations," "Street in Dreams," "Narcissism," "It's Okay," "Forever to Me," "All of Us," "Alice in Orange Country," "I Can Feel the Last Time," "When the Sky Goes Again." Even now, it is so famous that it is often requested on the radio.

In particular, "Winter Sea," which is famous as a representative song of winter, and "Happy Birthday," which is often used as a birthday song, are magical BGM songs. "Narcissism," which topped the K-pop program in the first half of 1993, is a song that feels like a love triangle between brothers that starts with "Ugly face and small height~ Maybe you like him~" and many people who lived during this period must have heard it. In particular, he once sang socially critical songs like "Alice in Orange Country."

Later, in 1993, Blue Sky was disbanded with its sixth album, and then formed White with Kim Ki-hyung from Brecktetra. Song Kyung-ho, who worked with him, briefly worked as a solo in 1994, and the title song "Imagination" was composed by Yoo Young-seok. Since then, he has gathered his team members separately and worked in a group called "New Blue Sky," but he was buried immediately after he thought it was a little floating.

Representative hits of this period include "W.H.I.T.E," "Dream of Square," "May You Be Like Me," "Seven Years of Love," "Love as Love," "I Live in Memory," "I Should Have Said It," and "Recollection."

"W.H.I.T.E" reached the top of the K-pop chart with its musicality recognized for its fairytale and fantastic lyrics and melodies that would appear in Disney animations or children's musicals. Of course, referring to the items, it was mistaken for a song called Magic Castle that appeared at the same time. The theme is the same, and in the lyrics of W.H.I.T.E, there was a part called "If we open the gate together," so few people remembered W.H.I.T.E as a magical castle.

In addition, "Love as Love," which was released in the sixth album of Blue Sky but is widely known again in the white album, has an impressive narration with a calm piano accompaniment, which has also become a magical BGM for confession of love or proposal. And "Recollection" is the original song of Han Sung-min's "The More I Love You," the OST of the movie "Classic."

Later, White disbanded and turned solo after "White Bank," which was announced as a project in 1999, but there was no clear result. In particular, around 2001, his voice was so bad that his voice could not come out properly due to a vocal cord nodule, so he rarely performed as a singer now, but instead began to compose and produce other singers.

It has a strong classical feeling, but it tends to be because I have played the piano for a very long time. Looking at Yoo Young-seok's songs, his specialty is fairy tale-like songs and lyrical songs, and there are many good songs to listen to alone quietly. One of his signature songs, White's W.H.I.T.E., is the best example of such a case. "When I wrote this song, I put so much effort into entering the hotel with my wife (?) with the aim of writing only beautiful and good lyrics, that I would never go out unless the lyrics came out." In addition, the atmosphere of the two became hot (...) and a second generation was born along with the lyrics" (...). Strange destruction of childhood innocence

He also released a tribute album for Yoo Young-seok and Blue Sky-White, and in fact, the tribute album was dedicated to himself to reflect on his 20 years of music life. Yoo Young-seok had previously produced his own best album, "From then to now," and he also produced his own dedicated album and recruited guest vocals himself. In particular, he is said to have put a lot of effort into recruiting Insooni, who was pointed out as the vocalist of "Winter Sea."
