■ About The Band

The initial sunflower began in 1973 when Lee Jung-sun, Lee Ju-ho, Han Young-ae, and Kim Young-mi, who sang together at the Sunflower Hall of the Myeong-dong Catholic Hall, formed a four-member folk group. However, when they formed a group but failed to name the team, they encouraged Sister Ollette of the Catholic Hall to name the group. Sister Olette answered, "Since the place where the four sing is the Sunflower Hall, why don't you make it a sunflower?" and the four decided to name the group Sunflower.

Sunflower released "Sunflower Song Collection 1st" as its debut album in 1977. Under the influence of Lee Jung-sun, the leader who composed the song based on nature, a clear and soft folk song was included, and it features a unique chorus and hybrid that is difficult to see at that time. The song "Cloud, Wild Flower, Stone, and Lovers," which makes good use of the above characteristics, is an opportunity for young people to enjoy singing at the time and to shake off the campaign of sunflowers.

In 1979, Lee Ju-ho, a member, withdrew due to military enlistment, and Lee Kwang-jo joined in place of Lee Ju-ho. After that, he released his second studio album, "Sunflower 2nd Album". Unlike the first album, the second album features songs of various genres such as folk songs, children's songs, and trot, and "Summer" and "Baekmagang of Memories" are popular hits. Many songs become popular, but among them, the most highly regarded song, "Gunggeureum," is loved enough to be talked about so far with lyrical lyrics and children's song-like accompaniments.

Later in 1982, Lee Ju-ho formed a new two-member sunflower with Yoo Hae-jong, and released his first full-length album in 1983. The duo "Sunflower," led by Lee Ju-ho, and the four-member "Sunflower," led by Lee Jung-sun and Han Young-ae, are separate beings.

Lee Ju-ho and Yoo Hyo-jong's two original duo members are probably best known to those who lived in the mid-1980s, as Sunflower's signature song, the happiness giver, everyone is love, tell me, my heart's jewel box, and you are all the first songs released when these two were active. Another representative song, Love, was released in 1989 when Lee Ju-ho and Lee Kwang-joon were working together after Yoo Hyo-jong left the team and turned solo.

As mentioned above, since Yoo Hae-jong left, Lee Ju-ho has become the center of the team, and only the other member has changed several times. Lee Kwang-joon, Shim Myung-ki, and Song Bong-ju of Bicycle Scenery went through the team, and Kang Sung-woon has been working with Lee Ju-ho [2] since 1999.

Now, it is recognized as a regular singer at the concert 7080, but for young people in the 1980s, when learning acoustic guitar was a rite of passage, the music of sunflowers is almost like a Bible. The song, which was quiet with lyrical guitar melody and seemed to wish for some kind of dream, was loved not only by young people at the time but also by all ages, and there are so many great songs.

The Happiness Giver has been remade several times in competition and audition programs and has been widely known to young people. "With Love" is a song that wet people's hearts at the time of its release, and Kim Bum-soo's serious remake was also made, and in 2012, Kukkasten arranged a calm minor folk ballad into psychedelic hard rock.
