□ About Chakra

South Korea's four-member girl group. It is famous as a girl group produced by Lee Sang-min of Lula. The group was named by Lee Hye-young. He made his debut on February 26, 2000 on "Live Music Camp" and released his first album on March 2, 2000.

The team name "Shakra" means Hindi, which means the achievement, attraction, creation, and composure of four human energies recorded in ancient Indian medical books, but it is actually mispronounced. The Hindi corresponding to this meaning is क्रर[cakra](chakra) and the Hindi word ्कशच[séakra](chakra) close to 'chakra' means 'sugar'.It also means Jeseokcheon Stream.

Prior to his official debut, Lee Sang-min appeared on music programs as a member of the project group Bros. At that time, there were no Ryeo-won and Eun, and they were composed of members named Gong Bo-ra and Lee Hyun-joo . This trace can be confirmed by the phrase "Born and eternal by Hwangbo Hyunjoo Sunhong Bora Chakra Bros" in the lyrics of the song "Zen" in the first album of Bros.

As the main players of the early days of the girl group, there are S.E.S., Fin.K., Baby Vox, Diva, and Jewelry, who usually recognize S.E.S., Fin.K.L., and Baby Vox as the first group, and Diva and Chakra as the second group.

The concept was quite fresh, but it was a very precarious group in sound balance. At that time, most of the music programs were lip-syncing, so if it were to look good, they would gather the team quickly through street casting and make their debut in a couple of months. Still, the groups at the time included one main vocalist who sang well even though he lacked appearance to cover his lack of skills, and Chakra made a dangerous choice to select all four of them based on their visuals.

Eun, Hwangbo, and Ryeo-won were all ordinary girls who had no relationship with the entertainment industry from the beginning, but they were selected as members based on their appearance and atmosphere through street casting. Ini, who had a career in the entertainment industry, was clearly selected as a visual representative because she had the overwhelming specification of Miss Korea Beauty in 1997. However, at the beginning of his debut, he wore unique makeup with a boyish concept with a short cut, which did not receive much attention due to his appearance behind Hwang Bo and Ryeo Won.

Fortunately, Hwang Bo, who cast Lee Sang-min for one reason, "He looks like an Indian woman," unexpectedly followed his skills and took charge of lead vocals and rap. Hwang Bo was the only member who could be trusted as a singer, so Hwang Bo sang most of the songs and Eun and Ryeo Won showed the distribution of the leader's part, which included about one or two lines. In addition, Ini was only in charge of visuals using the superior specification of being from Miss Korea's beauty, and had virtually no function as a vocalist. Although Hwangbo is not overwhelming compared to other groups as the main vocalist of the group, there is no sub vocalist to cover that part. At least, it got better after Ini left and Bona came in, but Bona also did not have a good voice, so only Hwangbo's voice was heard in the group singing part until the group disbanded. However, the production, which showed Lee Sang-min's skillful differentiation, attracted relatively early attention and achieved great success.

Unlike other girl groups, it attracted attention by appearing with an Indian-style exotic concept. Aside from their skills, if we only consider the specificity of the concept, it can be compared to 2NE1 at the time of their debut, which can be seen as a more unique and heterogeneous concept than that considering the times.
