■ About BLACKHOLE
Leader Joo Sang-kyun writes and composes all the songs on vocals and lead guitars, but they are a strict four-member band, so calling them a one-man band is a disparagement to the black hole band and technically an insult to Joo Sang-kyun. It is also not right to say that the rest of the members have changed frequently. There were changes in the members at the beginning of the black hole band activities, but from 2000 to January 2020, they were fixed as Joo Sang-kyun, Jung Byung-hee, Lee Won-jae, and Lee Kwan-wook members!! He has been active for as long as 20 years without any change in the members.It is a point where members cannot be said to have changed frequently.
Recently, bassist Jung Byung-hee, who has been active in black holes for more than 30 years, withdrew due to personal reasons (30 years is actually a black hole-like super-long band, so 30 years is enough to be called "retirement.") Black holes, who had no choice but to fill his vacancy, has been recruited from the Lee Hyun-seok project to sing, guitar, and Kim Se-ho.
The name black hole means to suck in music like a black hole in the universe that absorbs everything.
As of 2022, he has been active for 37 years and has nine full-length albums.
After forming a band in 1985, he worked mainly at the Pagoda Theater and released his first album in 1989. At this time, the manager of the black hole was Baek Kang-ki, the manager of the revival. The resurrection was dismantled and the black hole was found and made its debut. Surprisingly, the footsteps left in the history of Korean band music are deep. Their signature song, "Lyrics of a Deep Night", became popular and recorded their second album with the cooperation of American drummer Darrin Muir. Although it received considerable attention, such as hosting the album showcase at the 63 Building, the drummer withdrew, and Kim Eung-yoon, who was known as a disabled drummer, joined and continued his activities.
From the third album, it was ambitiously prepared with the support of EMI, a large agency, but due to low album sales, it is on the verge of disbanding. However, the fourth album was successful and revived, and after that, he continued his activities and released his full-length album until the sixth album. However, the contract relationship ended, and the contract relationship was twisted and floated in the air due to a confrontation with the record company over the release of best albums. Since then, the chaotic situation continues, with two types of best albums released by EMI using existing music sources and their own re-recording.
He established his own agency, MetalK, and released his seventh album, but he could hardly release an album due to the continuous change of members and internal causes of the band. In 2005, five years later, they released their eighth album "HERO" after continuing their exclusive national tour.
Produced by Victor Smolsky, a guitarist from the German master thrash metal band RAGE, the leader of the current power metal band Almanac, the eighth album drew attention for its perfection showing the mature band's history. With the album, they are considered a team that has succeeded in adding a Korean color to rock music.
