□ About Roy Kim

He debuted at the age of 20 in 2013 as the winner of Superstar K Season 4, and has been an artist who shows outstanding writing and composing skills for 20 years.After spending a year in the military, I am preparing for the 10th anniversary of my debut as of 2022.

Although he may be mistaken for a Korean-American because of his stage name, he is not a U.S. citizen, but a native Korean born and raised in Korea.

In the broadcast, he tried to appear as Kim Sang-woo, his real name, and actually introduced himself as Kim Sang-woo in the preliminary round, but he introduced himself as Roy Kim even though Mnet, which tried to make issues using his good looks and background of studying abroad, revealed his real name. Superstar K's production team found a video posted under the name Roy Kim on YouTube and broadcasted it as Roy Kim. Roy Kim himself introduced himself as 20-year-old Kim Sang-woo during the preliminary round, but at some point, due to Mnet's policy, he is now working under the stage name Roy Kim. Eventually, it became known by that name.

I was born in Korea, and I studied in Canada when I was in elementary school, and I returned to Korea and went to Whimoon Middle School and studied in the United States. After graduating from Asheville School in the United States, he passed Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, but was delayed by one year after attending Superstar K.

At the beginning of his debut, he was often told that he looked old because of his unique presbyopia, but now he is rather young looking for his age.

Since the 2010s, mainstream vocal styles have been based on high and light sounds close to head voice, but Roy Kim uses sounds based on relatively low and heavy sounds close to neutral. For this reason, it gives a comfortable and cozy feeling when singing ballads, and a solid and heavy feeling when singing rock.

He is a singer with excellent physicality, and the physicality here is a tone that does not mean volume or range of voice. In other words, Roy Kim's ability to show great strength lies in maintaining his voice tone. In the case of high notes approaching the head voice, instead of increasing the vocal range, the tone becomes lighter, and Roy Kim has a vocalization that further maximizes his tone by sticking to his basic voice instead of the vocal range. First of all, the ability to use high notes and falsetto shows that it has grown remarkably when comparing 'Naughty Boy' and 'Who is life for?' and has developed unrivaled among the Top 12 members in terms of ability to lead the overall flow of the song, delivery of lyrics, and ability to dominate and lead the stage. The first mission song was "I Love You Again". Some misunderstand that he chose only a safe stage and went to the finals comfortably because of Judge Yoon Mi-rae's evaluation of "Seoul's Moon," but Roy Kim is actually a participant who challenged the most diverse genre in the Superstar 4 live competition. It was widely recognized during the finals that he tried to play various genres such as ballads, hip-hop, dance, and folk rock, and actually achieved enough results to attract attention. At the same time, it is difficult to surpass the original song as an amateur audition participant, but it should be highly evaluated for its success in capturing a different charm from the original song.

It is true that Roy Kim was behind in terms of the impact of the stage compared to Huh Gak and Ulala sessions. Unlike Huh Gak and Ulala sessions, which had an overwhelming impact on the program, other participants as well as Roy Kim, the winner, do not seem to have had such a big impact, and even those who do not doubt Roy Kim's skills cannot easily answer the question.
